Call to Members: Responsible Innovation - What are your views?

Posted on 23/01/2019 by IED

BSI and Innovate UK are currently working together to develop a framework for the responsible governance of innovative technologies. Companies involved in these activities are increasing asked to demonstrate they are behaving responsibly, especially if the technology involved is likely to be disruptive or otherwise controversial.

To inform the development of the framework, BSI would like to get the input of people involved in a wide range of innovative technologies. They are interested in companies with a commercial focus with business or consumer applications and want to include the views of SMEs as well as larger companies.

During February and early March, they are interested in hearing from people who would like the opportunity to express their views on this subject. This will be in the form of individual discussions conducted by an experienced Research and Insight specialist. The discussions will last approximately 45 minutes and will be conducted by phone or face-to-face.

If you would like to participate, please contact to arrange an appointment. Views may be expressed confidentially and anonymously, if required.

The below sectors are of notable focus for the team:

  • AI/big data
  • Genetics, gene editing and advanced life sciences (including synthetic biology)
  • Robotics and autonomous systems
  • Social media technologies (user-generated content, file-text-image sharing, networks, opinion broadcasting etc.)
  • Novel materials technologies (graphene, advanced composites, etc.
